Our vision
To build a robust, inclusive and innovative Ethereum ecosystem in Luxembourg and across the French-speaking world, where blockchain technology contributes to the empowerment of individuals, the strengthening of fundamental freedoms and the creation of a sovereign, decentralised digital economy.
Core principles
1. Censorship resistance
We believe in the freedom to act, to express ourselves and to transact without hindrance. Ethereum offers a neutral and impartial platform where no one can arbitrarily block, censor or prohibit transactions and applications. We defend this fundamental right and commit to promoting decentralised systems that guarantee this freedom for all, regardless of political or corporate power.
2. Decentralisation and sovereignty
We oppose the concentration of power in the hands of centralised entities. Ethereum's strength lies in its decentralised nature and its distributed governance. We commit to fostering equal participation and to spreading decision-making power as widely as possible. Everyone must have the opportunity to take part, to validate, to build and to influence the evolution of the network.
3. Accessibility and inclusion
We believe that blockchain technology must not be reserved for financial or technological elites. We commit to making Ethereum accessible to all, regardless of income level, geographical origin or initial technical skills. Inclusive innovation creates stronger resilience and wider adoption.
4. Transparency and verifiability
We advocate complete transparency in the systems we build and promote. Any user acting in good faith must be able to check the integrity of the network, control their assets and take part without relying on trusted intermediaries. The founding virtue of Ethereum is that we do not need to trust people, but rather mathematics and consensus.
5. Freedom to program and innovate
Ethereum is a neutral and open programming platform. We commit to defending the freedom to innovate, to create and to deploy applications without arbitrary restrictions. This freedom is essential to explore the limits of what blockchain technology can achieve.
6. Privacy and security
We recognise that privacy is a fundamental right. We encourage the development and adoption of privacy-preserving technologies in the Ethereum ecosystem. At the same time, we never compromise on security, or on the cryptographic protections that safeguard the integrity of the network and protect assets.
7. Digital sovereignty
Ethereum is an alternative to centralised financial systems and to digital infrastructure controlled by third parties. We commit to promoting the digital self-determination of individuals and communities, enabling everyone to become their own bank and to keep sovereign control over their assets and their data.
Core values
Neutrality
We remain independent, with no political or religious allegiance, in the service of technology and the community.
Transparency
Our actions, our finances and our decisions are as open and documented as possible.
Integrity
We adhere strictly to our principles, even when it is difficult or unpopular.
Resilience
We build to last, favouring decentralisation and diversity over short-term efficiency.
Empowerment
We seek to give power to individuals rather than to concentrate control.
Excellence
We aim for the highest quality in our work, our research and our events.
The role of Ethereum Luxembourg
As guardian of these principles in Luxembourg and ambassador for the French-speaking world, Ethereum Luxembourg commits to acting as a:
- Catalyst for innovation: creating an environment where emerging ideas can be explored, debated and brought to life.
- Bridge between generations: connecting the pioneers of Ethereum with newcomers, preserving the legacy while embracing change.
- Voice of the community: speaking for the interests of the Ethereum community before policymakers and institutions, and advocating supportive, well-informed regulation.
- Network node: serving as a focal point for the Ethereum ecosystem in the Greater Region, fostering local and international connections and collaborations.
This manifesto is not a fixed document but a living statement of our intentions. We will update and refine it as our understanding of Ethereum and its impact on society evolves.
